The E. L. Johnson Nature Center offers 35 acres of natural beauty in Bloomfield Township. It is the only natural area open to the public in the Township. Owned by the Bloomfield Hills School District, the Nature Center is also an integral part of the curriculum for grades 1-8. The Nature Center is open to the public 7 days a week. Hike the trails, listen to the birds, visit the deer, enjoy the solitude and come away refreshed. In 2006 the new Visitors Center was completed and is open most weekends. The Center's website has more information.
Friends of the Johnson Nature Center
is an independent non-profit organization formed in 2006 to help maintain and improve the Nature Center and to ensure that it continues to offer area residents an opportunity to enjoy nature. Membership in the Friends is open to everyone.
